Air Conditioning Servicing

0 comments

There is a general rule of thumb when it comes to auto mechanics servicing: pay little for routine service or pay a lot more for major repair. This is very true for your air conditioning unit.

A lot of us neglect the importance of routine air conditioning servicing, only to realise that we need a major repair when the aircon unit is not working anymore. If you do not service your unit regularly, you will feel very uncomfortable when it breaks down all of a sudden, and find yourself broke too!

An aircon unit is a very complicated system for you to clean it by yourself. It is engineered to withstand all sorts of abuse and keep on running. Sometimes, we just forget that it will break down some day if we never maintain it properly.

An aircon unit without regular maintenance will cause your electrical bill to go up significantly. Without regular maintenance, your unit will lose about 5% of its original efficiency every year. However, research has shown that with regular servicing, your aircon unit will maintain up to 95% of its original efficiency. This means that the cost of your monthly electrical bill will go down as your unit will not need to use more energy to create cool air and blow it.

A good air conditioning servicing should include cleaning of the fan coils and blowers, checking the compressor, oiling the fan motors, as well as checking the system operating pressures and temperatures. One very important thing to note is that you or your servicing contractor should not just use a brush or vacuum to clean the fan coils and blowers. By just brushing or vacuuming it, dirt and dust will be loosened into the air. As you breathe them into your lungs, it will make you fall sick easily. So, ensure that they always used a lab certified chemicals to detoxify the bacteria and dirt while cleaning it.

Other than regular servicing, you can also buy good filters and change them regularly so as to ensure a high level of comfort for your room. Next, you should always clean the exterior of the unit with a moist and clean cloth, so as to prevent any layer of dirt forming on the exterior of your aircon unit.

All mechanic equipments need regular maintenance so as to maintain their efficiency and make them more reliable. With regular maintenance, they are less likely to suffer a major break down and also make them have longer life spans.

What A Condo Is Good For

0 comments

Like other real estate properties, there are number of advantages that you can derive if you buy a condo. A condo is a form of real estate property, which is a part of a building. The good thing about condos is that even if they form part of a building, you can own the unit that you are occupying and can do anything you want to it, as long as you are not violating the rights of other occupants. By owning a condo, you have a deed of absolute ownership over the unit once you have fully paid its purchase price.

A condo is ideal for people who are single and always on the go. If you are single and want to live in the heart of the city and be near downtown workplaces, you can do so by buying a condo. There are many condo buildings in cities all over the United States. Most of these condo units are affordable and cost a lot less that those houses in the suburbs, or those fancy townhouses. Condo units come in different shapes sizes, depending on the design of the building. Some of these condos are very spacious, while some of them are very compact and functional. The bigger the size of your unit, the higher the price is for it.

Condo buildings have common areas to where all the occupants of the building have access. The building administrator maintains these areas. In most condominiums, they have common facilities like swimming pools, fitness centers, and lounges where you can unwind at the end of the day.

Get the Most Out Your Shoe Shine

0 comments
eople do not shine shoes much anymore. Most of the places where shined shoes were a must have gone to accepting casual shoes as office attire. Forget casual Fridays! People are now wearing casual shoes to work every day of the week. Sure, people use leather conditioner on leather shoes and wipe off their street shoes. They might even put some sneaker whitener on their athletic shoes. As for a real shiny polish, though, those are basically confined to weddings and funerals these days.

When that day comes when you need to shine your shoes, you will be happy if you are ready with a shoeshine kit. You can buy these already assembled, but that is not a particularly good choice. The items you need in your shoeshine kit will be special to your own shoe collection and polishing needs. You will need different polishes that may not come in a pre-fabricated kit.

You might want liquid shoe polish or paste shoe polish, or you might even want both. You will need a different color to go with every pair of shoes you own that can be shined. If you are using the paste polish, you will need a horsehair applicator, and either way, you will need a horsehair brush. Buffing cloths are a must.

Prepare your shoes for the polish by cleaning them. You may be tempted to put a lot of water on your shoes to get them very clean. Remember that you can get them clean without so much moisture. They have to be absolutely dry before you go on. At this point, the polish will stick to the shoes.

Use the applicator that is attached to the liquid polish to put the polish all over the upper, or top, of your shoes. Since the heels and toes are the most vulnerable to scuffs and scrapes, they need the most attention. When the shoes look like they are perfectly covered, set them aside so that they can dry. The shoe polish will dry quickly and you will be on your way to the next step.

That next step is to use the horsehair brush on the entire upper surface of both shoes. This will take off the uneven surface of the shoe polish and provide a moderate shine. You can buff and buff with the horsehair brush, and your shoes will look nice, but they will never have that sparkling shine you may be after.

To get a super shiny shine, you need to use your buffing cloths. Cut a t-shirt into strips to make your cloths, or just use old tube socks. Grab a buffing cloth by the ends and place the middle of the cloth at your shoe or heel. Run the cloth back and forth over that spot until it has a sparkling shine. Then move on to the rest of the shoe. Shining shoes does not have to be a lost art. You can learn to use liquid polish easily. Furthermore, with a little direction, you can learn to use paste polish as well, for a lasting, protective shine.

Yippee! It’s almost time for that once-in-a-lifetime 10th birthday. And that means gifts. So it’s off to the mall where a world of dazzling gifts stretches out before you. You barely know where to start.

There is help, though. And it comes from a group of 10 and 11-year-olds, themselves.

I asked this group to list their favorite recent birthday gift. They were thrilled to give me hundreds of choices. We worked hard to narrow the list down to the top ten.

Here goes:

* Electric Train –

An electric train with winding tracks and blinking switch-lights is an exciting gift. You can add new cars, railroad worker figures, and extra track throughout the year.

* Tattoos -

A complete set of stick-on tattoos can delight a 10-year-old’s heart. A set may contain animals, flowers, names, and names they make up on their own. Glitter tattoos and body paint is especially appreciated.

* Skateboard –

A colorful skateboard with solar-powered lights will add smiles to any birthday celebration.

* Wood-burning Set –

This set normally contains the hand-held electric burner-pen, wood blocks, stencils, paint and varnish. It provides hours of fun for any artist.

* Name Scroll –

A scroll comes with the person’s first name and meaning on a background of a painted tiger, lion or some other animal in nature. Included is a crest, painted borders and seals. It is ready to be framed and hung on the wall. It is beautiful enough to make any heart sing.

* Anti-gravity Boots –

Sure-fire anti-gravity boots can be the hit of the party. Guests of all ages will want to try them out. You may even get to walk on the moon with them.

* Gemstone Polishing Kit –

A gemstone polishing kit is a most unusual gift and people, young and old, want to try their hand at using it. Nothing beats seeing those gemstones emerge. The kit comes with a tumbler and powder to remove hardened clay that covers the gemstones beneath.

* Juggler’s Kit –

Jugglers’ kits are a dandy gift. They come with colorful balls that light up when in motion. The lights are battery operated.

* Kites –

Kites in fantastic shapes of dragons, giants and tiger sharks are winning gifts. Some kites are even self-propelled for those days when the wind is low. Many have lights that blink on and off.

* Heelys -

Heelys are sports shoes with an added bonus – they roll. A wheel is released in the back sole of the shoe. You merely have to lift the front of your foot and off you go. You can zip around crowds and get anywhere fast.

I hope this list provides you with a starting point. With a little imagination and help from a young assistant, you can find a dazzling gift for a 10-year-old’s birthday.

Dustmite Control

0 comments

This element is a protein called DerP1, a protease enzyme found in the feces of dust mites.
The house dust mite, is a cosmopolitan guest in human habitation. These mites thrive in modern, fully carpeted, double-glazed, draught-proof homes and lives comfortably at 25 deg Celcius and a humidity of 75%.

Dust mites live on shed human skin cells, predigested by a fungus called Aspergillus repens. It is particularly common in carpets and bedding. General cleaning does not remove these mites. In this article, we will take a look at effective ways to control dust mites.

Most of us take the following measures to control dust mites using regular cleaning equipment and chemicals:

  1. Regular vacuum cleaning (especially with high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters)
  2. Regular damp dusting of surfaces
  3. Replacement of carpets with vinyl or tile floors
  4. Covering of mattresses and pillows with impervious materials
  5. Use of chemicals (acaricides) to kill mites
  6. Use of fungicides to kill Aspergillus
  7. High efficiency particulate air filters (HEPA)

The use of high efficiency particulate air filters will assist with the removal of dust mites in household and other environments. Nowadays, vacuum cleaners are HEPA rated, so it is advisable to look for this rating when purchasing a vacuum cleaner.

HEPA rating is a confusing term as so many manufacturers and end-users misuse it to sell their products. In Europe, HEPA is a range of filtration from 85% to 99,995% of particles 0.3 microns in size or larger. (HI0-HI4) For anything better than HI4, the rating scale changes to ULPA (Ultra Particulate Air) 99.9995% to 99.999995% @ 0.3 microns is considered ULPA in Europe. In the United States, a HEPA filter is understood to be at least 99.97% efficient at 0.3 microns. Higher efficiencies can be specified, such as 99,999% but there are no classifications applied. (e.g. H13) as in Europe.

It is also essential to distinguish between HEPA-tested and rated vacuum cleaner and a HEPA filtered vacuum cleaner.

  1. HEPA tested and rated vacuum cleaner.
    HEPA tested and rated vacuum cleaners achieve total filtration of 99.99954% at 0.3 microns.
  2. HEPA filtered vacuum cleaner
    A HEPA filtered vacuum cleaner - only the filter system has been tested, not the entire vacuum system.

Why is it important to distinguish between the two systems?

HEPA tested and rated vacuum cleaners have been tested for any leaks that might occur - i.e. the possibility of minute leaks in the vacuums system and filters where the air might bypass the filters. That includes the canister as well.

HEPA filtered vacuum cleaners on the other hand have just been tested for the filters itself and not the canisters.

When purchasing cleaning equipment, clients should take these factors into consideration. Questions that should be asked should include the following:

Which type of application needs to be cleaned?
Must the environment be clean and dust-free?

HEPA filtered vacuums works well in commercial applications where the indoor quality of the air should be clean. In cases (for example laboratories) where the air must be both clean and dust-free, a HEPA tested and rated vacuum would be best to use.

Please consult with your cleaning equipment supplier when deciding upon the best equipment to use for your application. It might be worth your while to invest a bit more in order to obtain a clean and dust-free environment.

Make the Best Homemade Pizza

0 comments

Pizza is popular, no doubt about it. It's a simple food that evolved from the fast flatbreads, or focaccia, eaten in Italy as a quick meal.

We used to have it at home on Saturday nights, or even for lunch on school days. In those days, the pizza was made from a box mix. Those remain available. You can also buy frozen dough and canned sauce separately.

We like to make our dough from scratch, and use a canned sauce for convenience. After making thousands of pizzas over the years, we've learned some tips and tricks!

For a great homemade pizza:

  • Coat the dough lightly with olive oil before putting it in a bowl to rise. This prevents the surface from drying out.
  • Use fresh ingredients, especially the cheese, meat and peppers.
  • We like meat on pizza, but it can make it too greasy. To avoid this, precook the meat and drain well on paper towels before adding to your pizza.
  • Bake in a hot oven, 500 degrees or hotter if your oven goes that high.
  • Those lucky enough to have an outdoor, wood-burning oven, trying baking your pizza there. Be sure to turn the pizza during baking for even cooking.
  • Use double potholders or thick oven mitts to handle the hot pizza, especially if you're using a ceramic baking stone.

If you cook much, you probably have most of the tools in your kitchen to make a pizza already. In addition to measuring cups (liquid and dry) and measuring spoons, here are tools that will help if you're just starting with homemade pizza:

  • Bowl - Use a heavy Pyrex glass or ceramic bowl to retain warmth and allow your crust to rise evenly
  • Cover - A clean cloth or dish towel keeps out cool drafts, and prevents the dough from drying out on the surface
  • Ceramic pizza stone - best for even baking
  • Metal baking sheet - light weight and easy to store
  • Pizza cutter - Choose a model with guarding between the handle and the blade to prevent cuts

Armed with a few tools and easy techniques, you'll be making great homemade pizza at home in no time!

Mild skin problems like acne can be embarrassing, but people with chronic or severe skin conditions can become so self-conscious that they eventually become a recluse. None of that is necessary, however, as there are treatment methods available for these and just about any skin condition.

You just need to see a skin care specialist and/or a plastic surgeon. Skin care specialists and plastic surgeons are trained to deal with severe skin conditions.

Even if you have already been to one or more doctors and haven't seen any positive results, don't give up. Go see more skin specialists until you get the results that you are looking for. If you really want to change your appearance than the key is to think positively about how you want to look, appreciate what you do have, and don't give up. If your desire is great enough and your keep trying you will eventually see results.

Aren't Skin Care Specialists Expensive?

Going to a skin care specialist might cost you some money, but if a specialist or plastic surgeon can get those lesions or scars off of your body isn't that worth some money? It's also worth money to feel better about yourself. Isn't that the reason for wanting to get rid of the condition in the first place?

How To Find The Right Specialist

Finding the right skin care specialists is very important, but there are a lot of them to choose from. Do not bother flipping through the yellow pages if you are looking for a good doctor. There are literally hundreds of skin specialists listed in the phonebook and you can't really be sure which one is better than the next.

To save time and effort, simply ask for referrals from friends and relatives. Actual patients are always the most accurate source of information. Find out what kind of results they had and how expensive it was. Specialists can differ in price.

Once you have enough referrals go the doctors' websites and try to get an overall feel for their practice. Find a number to call. Try to find out how familiar the doctor is with your specific condition.

How many patients has he treated with the same condition? What were the results? Once you have an idea of the specialist(s) you are interested in, you should set up a consultation where the doctor(s) will be able to evaluate your specific condition and offer their recommendations for treatment.

If you buy a condo, it is always a must to read the documents cautiously to understand how upholding is separated among owners and the common funds.
With individual ownership, read the deed restrictions (if any) to really understand the rules that concern to your property. In fee simple ownership, there might be some compulsory fess for maintenance etc.

If you are unclear on your property ownership or your ownership obligations, it is always wise to review the title documents with a real estate attorney before proceeding with your purchase. Don't hesitate to ask questions! A clear understanding of your ownership, rights , and obligations leads to a more satisfying home purchase.

When DIY Dont Work

0 comments
Admit it. Sometimes, do-it-yourself techniques just don't work out. Sometimes you don’t have any clue on as how to do the dirty job of home improvement all by your own. Of course, DIY can save you money…but hey, I believe, this kind of frustrating situation tells us something…why don’t you just hire someone else?

DIY can really help you save up precious resources and [in a sense] energy such as doing cleaning, furniture remodeling, sweeping, painting and designing. In this regard, hiring a professional can save you more time and energy. You just have to be extra careful and sure enough that you can finish the job well and good.

However, there are some points in time that you might need to hire somebody else. Sometimes, you might want to hire a professional plumber to fix the leak on the faucet. You might need to hire professional siphoning service to empty your sewerage. Or exterminators and dust mite controllers to prevent your house from pests as well as diseases caused by these pests. You might need to hire carpenters to remodel your kitchen or furnitures.

Home improvement is something that every homeowners should always need to consider. As the old saying goes, the house reflects the home.
